As the founder and CEO, Daniel Gregoire has been the Previs Supervisor for leading directors on some of the most exciting projects in the last decade beginning with four years at JAK Films with George Lucas for Star Wars Episode II and III and THX 1138. Under the HALON banner, he has lead high profile projects such as War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with Steven Spielberg, The Spiderwick Chronicles with Mark Waters, The Last Airbender with M. Night Shyamalan, John Carter with Andrew Stanton, Cowboys & Aliens with Jon Favreau, World War Z with Marc Forster and Star Trek Into Darkness with JJ Abrams. In addition, Dan and HALON have worked on numerous commercials and films for such companies as DreamWorks Animation, Apple, The Mill, Method/RIOT, Kia, NBC and AMD. Dan has supervised Visual Effects and is developing several internal projects for future release. Dan is also a founding member and Treasurer of the Previs Society.
With over 10 years of experience, HALON Partner Brad Alexander utilizes his extensive background in feature film, commercials and cutting-edge media technologies to give life to every endeavor he’s been involved with. Starting his career creating the world’s largest video display for the Las Vegas Fremont Street Experience, Brad quickly honed his skills on Star Wars Episode II and III and THX 1138 for JAK Films. For HALON, Brad has worked on such high profile features as War of the Worlds, Ghost Rider, The Kingdom and spent four years as CG/Virtual Lab Supervisor for James Cameron’s Avatar. Brad worked with Ang Lee on his Academy Award winning film Life of Pi; supervised Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman; and then lead the LA team for World War Z; and JJ Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness, for which Brad supervised HALON’s previs, postvis and some final VFX efforts. Brad supervised previs on Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland and recently wrapped on a highly anticipated film with an acclaimed director due out in 2015. Brad is currently on an upcoming film that will shoot in 2015.
Patrice joined HALON in 2008 with over 20 years of Feature/TV Animation, VFX and Video Game production experience. Beginning at Creative Capers Entertainment, where she was able to develop, produce and manage a variety of animation and consumer product projects for most of the major studios including: Disney, DreamWorks, Warner Bros, Fox and Universal. Her subsequent film experience at DreamWorks Animation includes such projects as Sinbad, Over the Hedge, Father of the Pride and Kung Fu Panda. While helping set up Starz Animation in Toronto, Patrice managed internal film projects until becoming the Development Producer where she vetted external and internal projects for production, including 2011’s Gnomeo & Juliet. At HALON, Patrice has directed operations at the studio, overseeing the recruitment, setup and management of the all HALON projects. Focusing on company growth, Patrice has successfully increased profits and revenue, created a good working environment for employees and strengthened the company’s image and reputation. Avery is also responsible for implementing standards and practices which have made HALON a more stable and successful company.
As one of HALON’s first employees, Clint Reagan has done sequence and shot design for some of Hollywood’s biggest films including Ghost Rider, Transformers (pre Bay), X-Men: The Last Stand, Disturbia, The Spiderwick Chronicles and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. With 10+ years of experience, Clint recently supervised previs for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, as well as The Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross. Reagan’s other films include McG’s This Means War, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra with Steven Sommers, and Knight and Day and The Wolverine for James Mangold. Clint wrapped on 2014 tent pole films 300: Rise of an Empire and Hercules as well as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and the 2015 release The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. Clint is currently ramping up on another film project for a major studio.
AJ brings over 13 years of film and games experience to HALON, with an emphasis on animation, motion capture and cinematics. His career began at Sega managing the online experience for the Sega Dreamcas. At Midway games, AJ worked with casting, direction, cinematics and in-game animations. AJ went on to Vivendi Universal/High Moon Studios, and Digital Domain, creating final animation for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. He then led full sequences as a Lead Cinema Artist for James Cameron’s Avatar, and created previs and postvis for Iron Man 2 before joining HALON as a previs artist on Battleship. At HALON, AJ has supervised previs on the VES award winning HALO Reach: Deliver Hope and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Parts 1 & 2 from Summit Entertainment (for which he also supervised postvis on Part 2). AJ supervised work on previs, postvis and finals for 47 Ronin, and supervised a previs team on Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland. Latest in theaters for AJ is FOX’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Recently AJ wrapped on the the 2015 release of Chris Columbus’ Pixels.
Andrew came to HALON in 2004 with a background animating for game cinematics. He has been an integral member of the Ghost Rider, X-Men: The Last Stand, and Disturbia previs teams. Andrew was a supervisor on Rush Hour 3, as well as on ads for Cadillac, Hummer, and Budweiser. He spent nearly four years as a 3-D scene lead on James Cameron’s Avatar. Andrew went on to supervise a sequence for 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Andrew then joined the previs team for Ang Lee’s stereoscopic film, Life of Pi. Moffett spent over a year on the previs team as the Los Angeles lead, and then went with part of the previs team to Taiwan in 2010. After returning in 2011, Andrew stayed on to supervise postvis thru completion at the end of 2011. Andrew also almost 2 years on Jupiter Ascending in Chicago and London before supervising previs on Jurassic World for Colin Trevorrow coming out in 2015.
Tefft Smith II came to HALON in 2010 with 10 years of experience as a 3D and VFX supervisor; and as a digital artist working on feature films, television series and commercials for various studios, including Look Effects Inc., Zoic Studios, Gradient Effects LLC., and Star Dust. Tefft’s credits in this arena include: Green Lantern, Passion of the Christ, Southland Tales, Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Fringe, True Blood, all three “CSI” series, Bones, Criminal Minds, Scion “Pure Price,” Pontiac “Detail,” Need For Speed “the Chase.” As a producer and director, Tefft created bumpers of the 50 greatest VFX Films, and a Tribute to Steven Spielberg for the Visual Effects Society in 2007 and 2008. Tefft is one of the partners/founders of Gnomon Studios and was also their Director of Education from 2008-2010; and has taught various visual effects courses throughout his career. Tefft has supported HALON projects such as Battleship and 47 Ronin and he has supervised previs for Brad Bird’s 2015 film Tomorrowland as well as Chris Wedge’s 2015 release Monster Trucks.
Ryan was recruited to HALON in 2005, after HALON saw his live-action zombie short film. Ryan was introduced to previs on X-Men 3, and then began to design and edit previs sequences for Evan Almighty. Ryan’s other credits with HALON include on-location work for The Spiderwick Chronicles in Montreal; Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, following closely in a trailer along side the various locations for principle photography; Gamer in New Mexico; Terminator Salvation; and over two years leading the previs and postvis effort on Red Tails, working in LA, Prague and Skywalker Ranch. He recently wrapped on 300: Rise of an Empire for Warner Bros. and supported the team on the upcoming documentary series, Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey. Ryan is currently working on a ride experience for a major theme park. When not working on feature films, Ryan works on commercials for HALON’s clients such as Toyota Prius, Sears and Target.
